The Sunshine and Showers Crochet Along (CAL) project was originally published within Crochet Now magazine. The project is aimed at those wanting to improve their basic crochet skills and learn some new techniques along the way. Jane designed the blanket project with seasonal themes in mind so it starts with spring inspired shades and stitch formations and features summer, autumn and winter inspiration as the project progresses.
If you click on the images above you can download the specific 'Getting Ready' free taster document for either the Special DK version or Fine Merino version of the blanket. This information has also been posted on the blog.
As the Sunshine and Showers Blanket has now been revealed within the magazine we are able to relaunch this fun Crochet Along project, so the 12 patterns for the Sunshine and Showers blanket will all be available monthly on Jane's blog for free with an optional download version for every month priced at just 95p each.
A tutorial entitled 'Getting Started' will be posted on the blog on 11th April and subsequent patterns will be available monthly from the beginning of May.
The patterns for the blanket are written for a DK weight of yarn using UK terminology. The original version was made using Stylecraft Special DK and we have put together another version using Yarn Stories Fine Merino DK.
We have both of the yarn packs (which do not include the patterns) available, but you could also choose to source your own yarn palette - the project is a great stash buster!
Special DK yarn packs contain 15 x 100g Stylecraft Special DK and the Yarn Stories version contains 28 x 50 balls of Fine Merino DK. You will find more information about the specific yarn palette on the blog next week.
Crochet Now Magazine:
The patterns for the CAL project will continue to be available in back issues of Crochet Now magazine. All back issues are available digitally by following the links below, but paper issues of Magazines 1 - 5 are no longer available as they are out of print.
A paper brochure containing the 'Getting Started' information and the patterns for the first 5 installments of the design (issue numbers 1 - 6) has been produced by the magazine and we still have a limited number of these left in stock that we will continue to sell through. We currently have no plans to create a new booklet to cover patterns 6-12 as we will be releasing the patterns on the blog for free and with an optional download version as detailed above.
Patterns and step by step technique instructions are in Crochet Now Magazine issues 1-13
